Amrify vs Wix

Wix rents you a website. Amrify sells you one, code and all. Compare cost, speed, ownership and who actually does the work.

Amrify vs Wix
About This Service

Rent Versus Own

A Wix subscription is rent. You pay every month for permission to use their platform and their hosting. Stop paying and the site goes dark. Want to move it somewhere cheaper? You cannot, because the content lives inside their system.

Amrify sells you the site. Pay once, the code is yours, deploy it wherever you like: AWS, or free hosting on Vercel, Netlify or Cloudflare Pages. If you would rather not do the editing yourself, the bundled AI setup kit has Claude Code or Cursor do it from a plain-English request.

You Own the Code

The template is a one-time purchase. Host it anywhere, change anything, cancel anything, and the site stays yours.

Or AI Does the Edits

CLAUDE.md, AGENTS.md and a prompt kit for Claude Code, Cursor and Copilot ship in the box, so an AI agent handles setup and changes for you.

Built to Be Fast

Static pages served from a global server network, with no page-builder JavaScript in the way. Measure it yourself before you believe us.

You Own It

One payment and the entire boilerplate is yours - unlimited sites, forever.

Nothing to Maintain

No plugins, no updates, no admin login to secure.

Lifetime Updates

Every new niche template and feature ships to owners free.

Most comparisons of this kind are written to make one side look stupid. This one is not, because Wix is genuinely good at the thing it was built for. If you want to drag a box across a screen and watch your website change, Wix does that better than we do, and nothing here will convince you otherwise.

The question worth asking is different. It is not which tool is easier to start with. It is what you own at the end, how fast the thing loads when a customer taps it on a phone, and who does the work when something needs changing.

The Part Wix Does Not Offer

Every Wix comparison eventually runs into the same objection: a static site sounds fast, but somebody has to maintain it, and that somebody is you.

That objection used to be fair. It is not any more.

Amrify sells the boilerplate for $249 one-time at the founding price and you own it outright. If you want to edit it yourself, content is plain text files, no code required. But if you never want to touch a file, the box includes an AI setup kit: a CLAUDE.md, an AGENTS.md and a prompt library for Claude Code, Cursor and Copilot, so an AI coding agent does the configuration and the content changes from a plain-English request. The docs and video tutorials cover every step.

Wix has no version of that. On Wix you are always the one logging in and dragging boxes to change your hours before a holiday weekend. Typing one sentence to an agent that edits the files for you is the actual difference between the two products, and it is the one nobody writes about.

Speed, and How to Check It Without Trusting Us

Page-builder platforms load your site through their own rendering engine. That engine ships a large amount of JavaScript to every visitor whether your page needs it or not, because it has to be able to render anything anyone might have dragged onto the canvas.

Amrify pages are built once, ahead of time, into plain HTML files that sit on a global server network. There is no builder engine, so there is nothing to download before your content appears.

We are not going to print a table of invented competitor scores here. Plenty of comparison pages do, and the numbers are usually made up. Do this instead, it takes four minutes:

  1. Open Google PageSpeed Insights.
  2. Run a Wix site you like the look of. Any local business will do.
  3. Run one of ours: expressmounting.com, glassinc.net, or bestalpharettaroofer.com.
  4. Compare the mobile scores, not the desktop ones. Your customers are on phones.

Those are real production sites we operate, not demos tuned for a screenshot. Whatever gap you find is the gap you would actually get.

Speed matters here for a specific, boring reason. Google uses Core Web Vitals as a ranking input, and a slow site on a phone with a weak signal is a customer who taps back to the results page and calls the next company on the list. That is a lost job, and it happened before anyone read a word of your copy.

Ownership

This is the structural difference, and it does not depend on anyone’s opinion.

When you build on Wix, your website exists at Wix’s discretion. If they raise the price, retire a feature, or change how the editor works, you absorb it. There is no version of that conversation where you get a say, because the site is not yours.

With Amrify the site is a folder of files. Worst case, you take the folder somewhere else.

What It Actually Costs

Wix’s published pricing changes often enough that quoting exact figures here would be out of date within a quarter, so check their current plans and put your own number in. The shape of it does not change: it is a monthly fee that never ends, and it goes up over time rather than down.

Here is our side, in full:

After the first 5,000 founding members$399Same terms
Hosting$0Free on Vercel, Netlify or Cloudflare Pages
Your second, third, tenth site$0The license covers unlimited sites

The comparison people usually get wrong is the hosting row. You pay us once, launch the site, and then never pay us again, because hosting a static site costs nothing at the volumes a local service business generates. Try arranging that with a subscription platform.

Wix has improved on this front and it is no longer the liability it was five years ago. The remaining gap is control.

Structured dataAuto-generated, limitedGenerated from your content, fully editable
URL structureConstrainedWhatever you want
Page speedDetermined by the platformDetermined by you
Service area pagesBuild each one by handGenerated from a list of cities

That last row is the one that matters for a service business, and it is the least discussed. If you serve fifteen towns, you want fifteen pages that each genuinely talk about that town, because “plumber in Marietta” and “plumber in Roswell” are different searches with different competitors. On a page builder that is fifteen pages of manual work, so most businesses build two and give up. Here they are generated from your service area list, and adding a sixteenth town later is one more entry in that list.

Proof You Can Check

We do not publish customer testimonials. We had some, they were not real, and we took them down rather than leave them up.

What we can show you is the fleet. These are live sites running the same system this template is built from:

Thirty sites run from one shared codebase, and the boilerplate is that same system. That is the entire reason this costs $249 rather than $5,000: the engineering was written once and every site inherits it, so you are paying for configuration rather than for someone to rebuild the same thing from scratch. An agency charging you $200 a month for the same result has to do it by hand.

Built and maintained by Alex Crabinsky, a full-stack developer with over ten years building production websites.

When Wix Is the Right Answer

Genuinely, pick Wix if:

  • You want to see the change the instant you make it, visually
  • The site is a placeholder and nobody is searching for what you do
  • You do not care who owns it
  • You would rather pay a small amount forever than anything upfront

When to Come Here Instead

  • You want to own the thing you are paying for
  • You compete in local search and page speed is costing you calls
  • You would rather an AI agent did the work, and Wix does not offer that
  • You serve more than one town and need a real page for each
  • You are tired of a bill that only goes one direction

Moving Off Wix

Wix has no clean export, so content moves by hand. For a typical 10 to 20 page site:

  1. Copy the page content into text files
  2. Download your images
  3. Redirect the old Wix URLs to the new ones, so you keep your rankings
  4. Point the domain

Two to three days if you do it yourself. Step three is the one people skip and then wonder why their traffic collapsed, so if you take nothing else from this page, take that.

Or hand all four steps to an AI agent. The boilerplate’s prompt kit walks Claude Code or Cursor through the migration, the redirects and the launch, and the docs cover each step in plain language.

Common Questions

Do I have to edit code?

No. Content lives in plain text files, closer to writing an email than to programming. And if you would rather not touch the files at all, the bundled AI prompts have Claude Code or Cursor do it for you.

What if I want to leave?

Take the code. That is the whole point. We will help you move it.

What do I actually get?
